Like many other Star Wars fans, I'm upset that George Lucas is touching the films...again*. These changes came in the Blu-Ray re-release of the films**. It really angers me that George Lucas, who took a stand against editing classic films, continually edits these. I'm happy he hasn't edited any of the Indiana Jones movies, because at that point I will declare war on the Skywalker Ranch. Han shot first and the Ewoks sang their hearts out. There I said it.
I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars saga. I'd be more willing to forgive George Lucas for the remakes if he would just stop editing the originals. These films help me get through tests, research papers, and other times when I'm upset with things. At this point the Star Wars films are classic cinema and really should be preserved in their original form. The only editing that should occur is touching up the special effects enough that they look like the original in High Definition.
As a point of comedy, what if Nintendo sponsored the recent edits, would it look like this?
*-Full Disclosure- First time I watched the movies I was 10, and I watched the Special Edition from the 1990s. I have since watched the originals, and completely agree that the originals are better.
**-It might help if I don't even own a Blu-Ray player. Still, on principal, I refuse to buy (or receive) this box-set.
